The GEM Premier 5000 analyzer incorporates Intelligent Quality Management (iQM) as an automated Quality Assurance system that replaces the use of External Quality Controls (EQC) for each GEM cartridge loaded. Upon inserting a cartridge into the analyzer, the system reads and records all factory-assigned cartridge information. Calibration Valuation Product (CVP) solutions that were previously required upon loading a new cartridge on the older GEM 4000 models are no longer needed. CVP sampling is built in and ran automatically after the initial 40 minute cartridge warm-up. CVP 1 and 2 are run for all analytes except for hematocrit which uses CVP 3 and 4. The GEM analyzer will automatically turn to a Ready state for patient sampling if internal iQM and CVP pass after initial warm up.
Intelligent Quality Management (iQM) is an active quality process control program designed to provide continuous monitoring of the analytical process. iQM can detect clots, micro-clots interfering substances, microbubbles, and more.
